Creating a new department

1. To create a department, click Ecommerce » Departments.
2. On Departments page perform one of the following:
   • If you have not created any department, the system displays the following in the center of the screen:

     

   • If you have already created one or more departments, the system displays the tree of all created depart and the following button in the toolbar of Departments page:

     

3. Click Create a department.
   The Create a department page appears.
4. Enter the name of the department.
5. Choose between the following radio buttons:
• No parent
  The department you want to create is a top level department.
• Select a parent…
  The department you want to create is a sub-department of another department. For example, Books can be the parent department of Fiction, and Fiction can be the parent department of Fantasy.
  A list of existing departments appears. Select the parent department of the new department and click Done.
6. To add a description of the department, click Click to add a description.
   In the input field that appears, enter the description.
7. In URL, you can change the automatically generated URL of the department by clicking Change button and entering the new URL in the input field that appears.
8. By clicking Advanced, you can perform the following:
• Enter synonyms of the department.
  You can filter your content items by the department name or by the department synonyms.
• Change the name used in the code by developers to refer to the department, by clicking Change.
9. When you are finished click one of the following:
• Create
  The department is created and the system returns you to Departments page.
• Create and add another
  Use this button if you want to create more departments.
