Quick start

The following procedure is a quick guidance to setting a simple ecommerce website:

1. Depending on the services that you are going to use for your ecommerce, sign-up for the following:
   • Online payment processors: Authorize.Net, PayPal PayFlowPro, and Sage Pay.
   • Shipping carriers: FedEx and UPS.
2. Make the following settings:
   • Configure e-mail settings
     In order for the system to be able to send e-mails, you must configure the SMTP settings.
     For more information, see Configuring SMTP settings.
   • Enter the country , the state, and the ZIP, the name, and the email of your store.
     For more information, see Store settings » Currency and location.
   • Setup your units of measurement.
     For more information, see Store settings.
   • Deselect BypassPaymentProcessing checkbox.
     For more information, see Store settings » Currency and location » Step 2.
   • Setup how the URLs of the product will be generated.
     By default Sitefinity generates the product URLs to have the date and the name of the product. If you do not want the product’s creation date to be part of the URL, perform the following:
     1. Open Sitefinity backend and click Administration » Settings » Advanced » Catalog » Providers » OpenAccessDataProvider » Parameters  » Create new. 
     2. In Key, enter urlFormat and in Value, enter /[UrlName]. 
     3. Click Save changes.
3. Create the following:
   • Taxes that your products will be subject to.
     Define how the taxes will be displayed on the website.

   • If your store requires, before creating your products, you can create different types of products and divide the products in departments.
   • Your products the product attributes, and the product variations.
   • The payment methods
   • The shipping methods
     If your products are not shippable, such as software, you do not need to create shipping methods.
4. Create the ecommerce pages
   • If required, create login and registration pages.
   • Create products view, the shopping cart, the checkout, and the confirmation pages.
     You can also create additional pages, such as invoice and orders list.
5. Add the widgets to the pages and configure them.
6. Before going live, complete the Going live checklist.

IMPORTANT: Turn off caching for all of your ecommerce pages. You must install SSL certificate on the website and you must configure your login, checkout, and any confirmation pages to require SSL.
