Activate a license

License activation page

You activate a license on License Activation page. This page appears in the following cases:

  • you want to activate a new license via Sitefinity CMS administration
  • your trial period has ended
  • you update and start an older version of a project
  • you open Sitefinity CMS GitHub samples

You can also view the page by navigating to Administration » Version & Licensing.
Follow one of the alternative options described below to activate a license.

Automatic activation

To activate you license automatically, select Use the email and password for your Telerik account radio button and perform the following:

  1. Enter your email and password in the corresponding fields.
  2. Under Sitefinity edition you want activated, select the edition that you want to use.

    NOTE: You must have purchased a license for the edition selected. For more information, contact Sitefinity CMS Sales department.

  3. Click Activate License.
    The system automatically downloads and activates the license file from your Sitefinity CMS account.
  4. In Confirm license dialog, click Continue.

Manual activation

You can also download and manually activate a license file, by uploading the license file directly.

PREREQUISITES: To upload the license file manually, you must have downloaded it and saved it on your computer upfront. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Your Account page and navigate to Your Licenses.
  2. Click Manage Domains and Licenses and then click Manage for the relevant license.
  3. Click License Keys and then click Download for the Sitefinity version you are running.

To activate a license manually, perform the following:

  1. Select Use a license file you have downloaded radio button.
    An input field appears.
  2. Click Choose file, find the license file on your computer, and upload it.
  3. Click Activate License.
  4. Confirm the license by checking the license details and then click Continue.
