Email campaigns settings
Use this procedure to configure email setting – SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. The settings are needed for the system to send emails with campaigns to subscribers.
You configure SMTP settings in the following way:
- In the main menu, click Administration » Settings.
The Basic Settings page appears.
- Click Email Campaigns.
The SMTP settings appear.
- Configure the following properties:
| Enter the name or IP address of the host used for SMTP transactions. |
| Port |
Enter the port used for SMTP transactions. |
| Select if you want to authenticate when you login to the server.
If you select this checkbox the following fields appear:
- Username
Enter the user name of the account that you use to connect to the SMTP server
- Password
Enter the password of the account that you use to connect to the SMTP server
- Use SMTP SSL
Select if you want Sitefinity to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt the connection.

- You can test the setting by sending a test email.
To do this, enter the test email in Email field and click Send test message.
- If you want to track messages that are not delivered to the subscribers, select Track bounced messages checkbox.
- Enter the host of the POP3 server.
- Enter the port used by the server.
- Enter the user name of the account that you use to connect to the mail server.
- Enter the password of the account that you use to connect to the mail server.
- Select if you want to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt the connection.
- Choose what to do with subscribers, to whom the email campaign was not delivered.
- For each reason, select one of the following:
- Do nothing
- Suspend subscriber
Next time the email campaign will not be delivered to this subscriber.
- Delete subscriber
The subscriber is deleted from the list of subscribers.
- When finished, click Save changes.
