    The Wireless Business Group needed a web presence at an affordable cost and a customer portal to better services their clients.
  • Why Sitefinity
    Sitefinity provided all of the Content Management Tools that they required to create content. Sitefinity also allowed for the creation of a custom customer portal. This allowed for custom code to be created that works seamlessly with the Sitefinity platform.

    This was a four-week project that utilized Sitefinity 3.6, ASP.NET 3.5, and SQL Server on a Windows 2003 Platform.

    By using Sitefinity and creating a web presence that was used in both Search Engines and Pay-Per-Click, the Wireless Business Group was able to increase leads and sales.

The Challenge

The Wireless Business Group was looking to take their business to the web for the very first time. Being a little new the internet, they knew they would want to make many changes to their site after the initial launch. They didn’t want to have to pay a programmer to make content updates.

Also, they wanted to have a way that their customers could have an online portal where they could review custom reports. All of this needed to be integrated with their main web presence.

They also felt that a Pay-Per-Click campaign would be necessary, and they wanted the ability to create landing pages with different themes than the main website.

The Solution

Sitefinity had out-of-the-box functionality that the client could use right away. Most notable was the ability to create pages and content effortlessly, and to see the pages automatically show up in the navigation after creation. The next best thing was the ability to modify the Title, Description and Keyword elements of individual pages.

The client began to create pages right away, and instead of sending content to a developer to upload, they were able to create the pages themselves and instantly see the results.

For the customer portal, .NET user controls were created to integrate with the Sitefinity account management. Each customer was sent to a their own dashboard to view their own reports.

Other .NET user controls were created to allow the Wireless Business Group to upload the reports for individual clients. This allows them to manage their clients without any additional technical help.

For the Pay-Per-Click campaigns, additional themes were created with slightly different navigation elements.

The Results

The first result was the launch of the new website, a mere four weeks after the project start date, with only one developer being involved.

Being a technology company and a startup, it was important for the Wireless Business Group to get their website out there and be noticed by both existing and new clients. The customer portal was a great addition as it offered an easy way to stay connected with clients, and gave clients a reason to come back to the site.

The Pay-Per-Click campaigns were easy to create and implement. Each landing page was heavily optimized, and required a lot of content writing and rewriting before the final launch. By making edits within Sitefinity, changes were applied instantly and were immediately available for review, thus shortening the PPC development time.
