The Challenge
Rottnest Island Authority engaged Vivid Group to redevelop the Authority's web presence to reflect the beauty of Rottnest Island as a tourism destination. The Website was to accentuate the visual beauty of the Island and its attractions.
Vivid Group delivered a high impact interface with a background image that rotates through the Island's key attractions. The Website is powered by Telerik's Sitefinity Content Management System version 4.0 which provides Rottnest Island Authority full autonomy over the Websites content.
The website needed to accommodate the Tourism WA branding, but still portray its own unique personality. Rottnest Island wanted a solution that differentiated them in a crowded tourism market place and offered the wow factor the island deserves.
The Solution
The website offers all that you would need to plan a trip to the Island - from videos and virtual tours, attraction, accommodation and even hit deals. Integration with Google Places offers additional information and interactive maps of the Island. Social media integration was a key deliverable with You Tube, Facebook, Linked In, social bookmarking and RSS feed integration.
A real time weather forecast widget shows off Perth's fantastic weather and climate conditions. The website even integrates with the Rottnest Island Online Portal enabling visitors to book accommodation, rental mooring and bikes online before departure.
The Results
Vivid Group were able to deliver the entire solution in only 8 weeks from commencement. The budget provided to Vivid was only ever expected to deliver a quick interim solution whilst the Rottnest Island Authority migrated their Web presence away from legacy Tourism WA infrastructure. Instead, using the cost effective licensing available with the Sitefinity Content Management System, Vivid were able to deliver the full solution - and much more than expected by the client, within the nominal budget available.
