    Hi all,

Just to let you know that the RC edition of Sitefinity 3.0 will be available for public download on 12th February. The official release is scheduled for 28th.

Note that we are planning to partially rewrite the News and Blogs modules so that they are based on Generic Content. Their appearance will be much more easily customizable as they will be using templates instead of dynamic HTML.

Please address any urgent license issues you may have to our Sales Department.

    Yours truly,
    the telerik team

Is the file name the same (Sitefinity_3_0_beta3.exe) or is it a different file in a different location??

    Cheers

    Hi Craig,

Well, it's going to be another month, so I guess they'll tell us the filename then.  I know today's the 12th, so you may have thought they meant today and you were looking for the file...

We're all anxiously awaiting the new version... hopefully Feb 28th is somewhat close to the actual release date, though based on dates predicted thus far, I'm guessing it's going to be more like early April.

Will the RC work in a shared hosting environment?
Will I be able to use in a production environment like my personal home page, this would be a good for shared hosting testing?

Can I upgrade from RC to RTM?

    Hi Paul,

We regret to say that support for shared hosting will not make it into the RC. We cannot promise that it will be available with the official release either.
This is certainly one of our main goals and we are currently working on it but we are still experiencing many problems deploying projects on a shared hosting environment.

As for upgrading from RC to the RTM, we do not anticipate any problems as upgrades of the database are made automatically.

    Sincerely yours,
    Rebecca

Shared hosting is a requirement for us. If this is not included in the release candidate/final release, I think I might have to move to DotNetNuke.

How can you not support shared hosting?

I would assume most of your clients use shared hosting.

    Hi,

Is it possible to use a Fixed IP in a shared hosting environment as a work around until you offer support? Or am I not understanding the issue?

    Hi all,

I think it is necessary to clarify the issue with shared hosting. I feel that you have assumed that we do not intend  to implement this feature in Sitefinity 3.0 which is not true. In our opinion, the support of shared hosting environment is a feature of huge importance and it is a must for us too. Sitefinity 3.0 will work on shared hosting environment but we are still experiencing many problems with it. Thus, we cannot promise you this feature for the RC. I may reassure you that we will do our best to implement it for the Official Release even if we have to postpone the release date with a few days.

I hope this information is helpful.

Ben, Fixed IPs do not have any relation with shared hosting environment, so this cannot be a workaround.

It seems to me you have your priorities wrong. Shared hosting is more important than a blog/poll module. If anyone wants a Blog/poll module we could create our own blog/poll module.

Apart from that I think sitefinity 3.0 is a great product. Please keep up the good work.

I fully agree with Paul.  My guess is that most people will be running the app on a shared server and so making that work is a much higher priority than some of the bells and whistles you guys are working on (e.g Polls, blogs and news).

I also fully agree with Paul that you guys are doing a great job, and I've been REALLY happy with what I've seen so far and how it all works and how well it works with VS2005.  The user controls are such a slick way of expanding the functionality!

Great job, guys, and I can't wait for the full version

    Oops.  Posted twice :D

While I have you... any update on RC1 release date?  Is Feb 12th still looking good?  Or are you imagining it'll be later?

Thanks for any update you can give on that situation...

    Ben

    Hi all,

Thank you very much for the recognition of our efforts and your positive feedback.
Let me just assure you that we are working hard on providing support for shared hosting for the official release.

We are also doing our best not to push the deadline for the RC. The prospects are good for next Monday.

    Rebecca

    Folks,

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it is going to be another three days to the Sitefinity 3.0 release candidate.
In the last couple of days we came across many issues and we need some more time for tests and fixes.
Thank you all for your support and understanding.

Great, I know we're all looking forward to it.

    2 questions:
    1. Will you provide an upgrade path?  I've been developing in Beta 2 v2 and made lots of changes to style sheets, uploaded user controls, styles, etc.  Will you provide exact details on which files we need to use.  Are they all in the /admin/ folder, or are they elsewhere as well?

    2. If we own a license for Sitefinity 2.7, will we receive the 3.0 license for free?  Is your pricing going to remain the same?

    Thanks a lot

    Ben

You may find instructions for upgrading to the latest beta3 update in the attached document. We will provide detailed steps for upgrading to the RC1 edition in the RC1 User manual.

I have forwarded your second question to
