Not answered Any plans to integrate Ecommerce module?

I've read a lot of posts on here about various different types of ecommerce solutions you can use

however, all require work to some degree

Are there any plans for telerik to integrate a shopping cart system as part of the core functionality

if so when would we expect it?

Actually, we have had many similar requests but we have no current plans for providing a shopping cart module. Our plans in the future are for ensuring easy integration of Sitefinity with ASP.Net StoreFront. However, we cannot commit to a specific time frame. Meanwhile, you could take a look at the Commercefinity module - this is a module developed and provided by members of the Sitefinity community.

I was trawling through the forum looking for an e-commerce-related post and I noticed your reply regarding AspDotNetStoreFront. We too looked at them for an e-commerce project and we abandoned it as it was so difficult to develop with and to use. We now use AbleCommerce and absolutely love it.

Able V7 is now out and it is really great. I have also done some research and found a few other articles of people who have used both and they agree with me:

I think you should seriously look at Able before ASPDNSF, or at least get some opinions from other SF users as this is a feature that we would really love to have.

Thank you for contacting us and thank you for the articles.

Based on your input, AbleCommerce seems more functional than ASPDNSF. I was in contact with AbleCommerce a few weeks ago and I tried out their demo. I was impressed with AbleCommerce's ease of use, especially with making coupons. Now that I see there is more demand to learn about AbleCommerce, I will do some research into the e-Commerce provider and I'll see if they're a good fit for Sitefinity.

May I ask how you installed AbleCommerce with Sitefinity? After reviewing their installation instructions, it appears that they have a data access layer and the module is a series of user controls that can be uploaded to Sitefinity. Based on your experience, would you say AbleCommerce is like an Intrasite module?

Hi Joe,
AbleCommerce 7 is a lot simpler in its architecture than the previous version meaning a lot less pain for developers. Its weakness, however, is its general web site page content management, which is a strength of SF.

We have not yet done extensive research into it's E-commerce provider either but we plan to do so this year as AbleCommerce and Sitefinity are now our two flagship products.

As far as integration between the two systems goes, I guess you need to ask yourself how far do you want to go. These are both enterprise-level applications and to fully integrate them into one system maybe a bit of a challenge. Perhaps a system whereby all content and product data is managed by SF but all order management is handled by AC could work. Or maybe a synchronisation tool between the two systems.

Currently we deploy them as two separate systems. One thing is for sure, there is great demand, at least in our market, for an integrated "killer" CMS/e-commerce application bringing the best of SF and AC together.

I really encourage more discussion on this from the SF/AC community. It would be great to hear other's thoughts.

I'm looking at enabling AbleCommerce to work within an existing SiteFinity solution, but I'm yet to find any evidence that this has been done before!

Has anyone successfully achieved this? If so, how did you get the two systems working together? Any help would be much appreciated!

There should be no problems for two .NET applications to work together. Here are some articles that might be interesting for you:

• Working with multiple membership and role providers
• Stopping ASP.NET web.config inheritance

The easiest way probably would be one of your applications to work as sub application.
