    Great Job!
How do I enable Categories for Images & Documents?  This is very important for a project that I am working on.

Good job with the release on the "updated" release date.

    Hello medicalwebgeek,

We decided to remove the categorization feature from our Images & Documents module. Now you will probably ask why. This was a tough decision because we had to remove a feature that might be interesting for some of our users but we did it for the sake of clarity and semantics. In this release our libraries actually act as categories because they have the feature of consisting different items. On the other hand Images & Documents module supports tagging for each item which is currently considered to be one of the best ways for navigating through different items.

In the future we will definitely consider adding categorization to our
Images & Documents module if this feature is interesting to our clients and if we get decent feedback on how it should be most intuitive to you and your customers.

We are sorry for the caused inconvenience!

    Sincerely yours,
    Tihomir

    Hello,

This post provides the answers to several posted questions, beginning with the earliest posts:

    Sitefinity Team,

    Tim

    Tim,
You can add the notifications module as you add a regular pluggable module. Please refer to the User Manual -> Working with Modules", section Adding a Module to a Sitefinity Web Site. As for the Community Version - it is already available in your Client.Net

    Sitefinity Team,
I saw Aspose.Pdf.dll and Aspose.Words.dll files in the bin folder. I am wondering if Sitefinity actually use the these two controls or just for try.
    Tim.

    Tim,
Sitefinity uses them. They are used for our indexing engine, to index the contents of PDF and Office files. Furthermore, we plan to implement their functionality in some of our next releases, so every developer could use them as well. Note that the Document Library does not support indexing yet, this functionality will be available in SP1.

    Romi,
It is our omission not to have included this assembly. We have already updated the files, so you can download it again. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Thanks to all of you for your interest in Sitefinity!

I got following error message after apply notification module:

Could not load file or assembly 'Aspose.Words' or one of its dependencies. The parameter is incorrect

I think the problem is that Aspose.words.dll didn't register in the windows GAC. I think Sitefinity needs to post Aspose installation package for download so that end user can install and register Aspose.dll in the windows GAC

Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks

I am receiving an error when I update the page type.

I replaced Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Pages\PagePropertiesEdit.ascx and PagePropertiesInsert.ascx with the corresponding files from 3.1 and I am no longer having the issue.

Any updates to Page Properties (or these .ascx files) that should cause me to want to want the newer versions?

    Hello Tim,

    Sorry for the delayed reply.
We found a problem with the Telerik.Notifications_3_2_1500_beta.zip. Also, as there were some files missing in the installers we provided on March 4th, we replaced the .exe files on March 6th.

Here is what you should do now to eliminate the problem with Newsletters:

    1. Apply the patch that is available for download now. Depending on the edition you installed previously, choose either SiteFinity_3_2_standard_patch_1500.zip or SiteFinity_3_2_community_patch_1500.zip.

    2. Download the Telerik.Notifications_3_2_1500_beta.zip.

    3. Extract the files the project root directory.

    4. Make sure the ServiceAssemblies folder is empty. If you have downloaded the old Notifications.zip earlier, you should delete 3889AC4AF542BAC3C62ABB154E78FEA8.dll. It will be created automatically when you start the module.

    4. Open the project web.config file and remove the comments regarding Notifications. Refer to module.config for comparison.

    5. Save the web.config.

Note that there are problem creating and managing subscriber groups. Also, at the Administration tab, Notifications and Permissions links do not work.

I am able to update page type without receiving the error now, but I still am receiving it anywhere else in PagePropertiesEdit that would traditionally postbacks (Add URL, link, meta).

This is the error. (Even though this is the second time I am starting to type it because this editor didn't maintain my state)

Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filter, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near '

    Hello Sitefinity Team

I added the telerik.web.ui.dll into the Toolbox of Visual Studio 2008 on a Vista platform.
When I try to add a Rad control to my page I am getting the error 'The operation could not be completed. Invalid FORMATETC structure'

It must have something to do with my environment (Vista and/or VS 2008) because when I do the same on a Windows 2003 platform with Visual Studio 2005 (where Sitefinity 3.2 is installed too) I can add the Prometheus RAD controls to my page without any problems.

Have you any idea what the problem could be? I searched the internet but haven't found a solution yet.

Luc, this error does not seem to be directly related to Sitefinity or our controls. Therefore, I suggest you search asp.net forums for similar problems and possible solutions.
Also, you may take a look at this forum post for possible solutions.

Tim, the official Newsletters module should be out at the end of the month, together with 3.2 SP1.

    Chris,

I believe I got around this by adding the following line to the system.web section of my web.config

    <trace enabled="false" requestLimit="10" pageOutput="false" traceMode="SortByTime" localOnly="true"/>

Strangely enough, since installing SP1 I know longer have any trace node in my config, but I am no longer having the issue. (I wish I could un-blue this text)

    Hi Steve,

The Service Pack 2  for Sitefinity v. 3.2. will be released by the end of May. The focus will be on completing the Newsletters Module and fixing some known critical problems.

We are currently introducing major optimizations to the Forums and Blogs Modules and plan to release them by the end of the year. We will also introduce many new modules requested by our clients.

Thus, some of the features currently listed for Sitefinity v.4 will be delivered in the beginning of next year.  We are currently working to finalize our plans and will update the Product Roadmap when we are done.

Please, let us know if we can be of further help.

This is in regards to the ajax error Joseph originally mentioned. Here is the error message I am recieving:

"Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.

    Details: Error parsing near '

                    |<html>

        <head>

    '."

I added the line that Joseph mentioned in a reply to Chris, but I am still getting this error. If I click on "Save Changes" then the page will post back and I can then make the necessary changes depending on the page type I select. Still this is a issue that needs to be addressed. I am currently running Version 3 .2 SP2 Hotfix 1616.

    Another thing you can check...

Quite some time ago I ran across this error - but - only on certain networks.  What I found out was that some routers (Watchguard in this instance) have a setting called "strip unknown headers" where any header in the response stream that it didn't know about would be removed from the response.  Apparently, ASP.NET AJAX adds a custom header to identify itself and apparently some Watchguard routers weren't aware of this.

The way to check if this is happening is to visit any ASP.NET AJAX - enabled site from the same box that is experiencing this issue and if the same error pops up, then it's likely the router messing with the response headers.

    Hello Richard,

The error seems server-configuration specific. We found out that different workarounds worked for different people.
We think this is an Ajax issue, which is also related to the ASP.NET RoleManagerModule http module (you can see the actual exception in the ~/App_Data/sitefinity.log file). We couldn't see any Sitefinity code related to this error, so we think that this is an APS.NET issue. Most probably, it is fixed in the .NET 3.5 Ajax Web Extensions.
Here is the workaround. Set cacheRolesInCookie attribute of the system.web/roleManager to false in the web.config:

    <roleManager enabled="true" cacheRolesInCookie="false" defaultProvider="Sitefinity">

Thanks fro the replies. It seems that this was indeed a server configuration. The server in question only had .net 2.0 framework and the 2.0 ajax extensions. I updated to SP! for 2.0 and also downloaded and installed 3.0 and 3.0 SP1. Once these were added, I then tried to see if the error still existed. Low and behold the message went away. It seems that this problem I was having was related to not having the server updated with the latest patches.

    Thanks again for the replies.

    Hello,

If you have downloaded the standard edition, you would need a license indeed. Once generated, the license file should be placed in your ~/[project]/Sitefinity directory. The community edition is free though.

We kindly ask you not to post advertises in our forums. We follow them closely and strictly and will remove threads/comments/ads which are not related to Sitefinity or Telerik. Thank you very much for your understanding in advance!

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi
