    Search Indexing
     -  Search Indexing doesn’t work for News.
     -  If a Search Index is created but not started, saving changes to Pages or Blogs included in the index displays an error. To avoid such errors, the administrators should start the Search Index after creating it. This is done by clicking on the Start indexing link in section Administration>Services>Search.
     -  Search Indexing works only for one language on a particular web site. It doesn't work for multilingual sites.

    Multilingual Support
     -   The two language versions of a categorized blog post display twice when you follow the Category link in the Blog Posts control.

    RSS Feeds
     -   When creating a new RSS Feed, following the Page Info link opens a page with a JavaScript error on it.

    Upgrade from Sitefinity 3.1 to 3.2 SP1
     -   If you use localization for the Blogs module and you have blog posts in different languages, sometimes the Blog Posts control does not show the correct results. All posts are available in the administration, but posts in languages different from the default one might be hidden for the Blog Posts control. Please refer to this KB article for more details: Some Blog Posts Missing When Upgrading from 3.2 to 3.2 SP1.

We'll be glad to receive your feedback and comments.

    Sitefinity Team,

Thank you for keeping me posted and also appreciated all you hard working and inputs. At this point, I guess I just have to wait when the newsletter module is ready and hope my client has the same patient as I do.

By the way is there any way to enable Categories  for Images&Documents Module.

    Have a nice weekend

    Hello,

    Thank you for your feedback.
    Tim,
It is not possible to enable the Categories for the Images & Documents module so far, but we are going to provide a KB this week, which will help you achieve this. Meanwhile, you could you use Tags.

    Filip,
Any feedback and description of the problems you get with the News module will be greatly appreciated. We are working hard on this module and are also building some public controls for it now. As for the fully functional Newsletters module, we cannot commit to a strict time frame yet but have plans to release a new service pack once everything is ready.

    Hi,

In the current release search indexing doesn't support multilingual sites anymore.
Are you planning to reintegrate that feature again? If yes, when would that be?

Will SP2 allow for different permissions on each library in the "Images & Documents" module?

If not, do you have any suggestions for having public and protected content in this module?

I'll try to compile a list of things that we are working on for the Service Pack 2 and will try to publish it on the blog and here once I get it done. Sometime next week...

I am sorry that we keep you guessing, we'll try to improve in this aspect. Thank you all for the patience you've demonstrated... we'll give our best to make it worth it.

Any updates on any of this?  ETA?  Features?  I've been patiently waiting for the Q1 ASP.NET AJAX'ed (formerly Prometheus'ed) version of Sitefinity because I know it'll be a little painful for the upgrade due to the fairly large restructuring of files / skins involved.  Sometime next week perhaps?

I haven't installed the new version locally yet (waiting for SP2), but I did go on the Demo site which appears to be 3.2 (SP1?).  I didn't notice it being AJAX driven, though.  Either I'm missing something, or that version isn't using the new Prometheus controls yet.

Also, do you think SP2 will be the last service pack before 4.0, or do you expect more updates still?

Thanks a lot, and I'm looking forward to upgrading

    Hello all,

Sitefinity SP2 is planned for release by the end of the next week.
It will include fixes in the following areas:
    •    ContentView controls
    •    Newslist categories and tags
    •    Multilingual upgrade problems
    •    Oracle compatibility
    •    Search indexing
    •    Newsletter Module

At the time of the relase we will post more instructions and details.

Now, on the specific problems you posed:

    On AJAX in Sitefinity:
    - AJAX has been applied only partially and can be seen in the Page Properties section of the Sitefinity Administration. We had plans to apply AJAX to more areas. However, this effort has been rescheduled for the next major release. We apologize for the caused inconvenience.

On Different Permissions and Protected Content in "Images & Documents":
     - The implementation of different permission and protected content are scheduled for the next major release.

On the Planned Future Releases of Sitefinity:
    - The next major release will be version 4 and will be released by the end of the year. We will not have more minor releases in between. What we are planning to do is release beta versions of version 4 so that users can review, test, and provide feedback.

On whether SP2 will include Notications service and Documented API:
    - SP2 will include a partial implementation of the Notification service used by the Newsletter Module.
    - Detailed documentation of the API will be included in some of the next releases.

On the Search Working with Multilingual Content:
    - In SP2 the search will work with all languages using UTF-8 encoding.

I was curious if the ASP.NET AJAX control set will be integrated with Sitefinity in any future release, specifically the Rad Scheduler. If not is it possible to have access to the trial edition of Prometheus (It has currently been dated out of the Telerik site) and/or the documentation to review the API and demos for use of the RadScheduler within the Events Module? My interest at the moment is to use prevent the Scheduler from posting back by using AJAX so that I can use it simply with a TabStrip.

    Thank You

    Hi Joseph,

The RadScheduler has always been a part of the RadControls For ASP.NET AJAX suite, and it is not part of the classic version of the controls.  So, with that we automatically know that yes, the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX suite is partially implemented in the most recent version of Sitefinity.

The problem is that they are *partially* implemented.  I believe that this is the highest priority for the Sitefinity team right now since all of the controls - except RadRotator - now exist in the next-generation suite.

I'd recommend that you wait for SP2 of Sitefinity before doing anything; but off the top of my head I think you could just wrap the RadSheduler inside an asp:updatepanel and that will stop the post-backs.  Just find the user control for displaying events and inside that there will be the RadScheduler.

    Shaun.

    Dear Joseph and Shaun,

The RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX (previously “Prometheus”) have been distributed with Sitefinity since v.3.1. SP2. Sitefinity v.3.2. SP 2 (planned for tomorrow) will include the latest version of RadControls suite released in the middle of May.

For more information on the controls and their integration to Sitefinity you can review the Developers Manual, section Controls > RadControls > The Telerik RadControls.

For an existing implementation of the RadScheduler you can review the Events Schedule View control which is a part of the Events Module.

I hope this answers your questions. Please let us know if we can be of further help.

    Sincerely yours,
    Kalina
