thanks for following through on your promise for the release telerik, i'm sure we're all eager to try it out :)
quick question... forgive me if I'm just not seeing the obvious, but if we've already got the site set up and running and we just want to upgrade, then all we do is patch? the upgrade guide is for going from 3.1->3.2 but we're already at 3.2sp1 and need to go to 3.2sp2...
thanks!

Does SP2 include the most recent RadControls for ASP .NET AJAX? I haven't seen anything in your Release Notes or the documentation so far about it.

Hi Christopher,
It does - if you look at the version number of Telerik.Web.UI (the dll for RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX) you will see it is 2008.1 which I believe is the latest version.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Looks like with the new contentview controls you can now edit the designer! Excellent! Have you got any documentation I couldn't see any? It looks like you might be able to preset settings for you users - wow - can you confirm.
Also I we have been wanting to edit the download list designer for a while now... however it doesn't look like it has been converted yet - is this the case?
I have come across what seems like a bit of a bug on the NewsView - changing the settings summary (eg. shorten to 20 words) for the newlist on tab 3 of the basic tab seems to do nothing... it always seems to display the whole content in the list. Is this a know bug... is there a work around?
Thanks - looks exciting.

Dear all,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Please find the answers to your questions below:
Josh,
In order to upgrade, you need to apply a patch using the Upgrading instructions (the link requires that you log in to Client.net and is also available in section Downloads).
It describes how to change your original web.config to reflect the changes introduced in Sitefinity v.3.2 SP2. It also lists the changes made to web.config since Sitefinity v.3.2 SP1. Please let us know if you have more questions on that.
Christopher,
SP2 includes the most recent RadControls for ASP .NET AJAX released in the middle of May.
Seth,
The RegisterRequiresControlState Error was fixed in SP2 and you don’t need to apply the workaround suggested previously.
We are working to update the documentation on the new designer and will post an update when we are done.
The ability to edit the download list designer was added to our Feature Requests Log (#11941). It will be considered for some of the next releases.
We managed to reproduce the bug with the NewsView and it was recorded to our Bug Log (#11922). Thanks for reporting this problem. Your Telerik Points have been updated.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Can we filter events by multiple tags?

Hi Adrian,
Unfortunately, the EventsView control does not support filtering by tags out of box. It is possible though, to extend the EventsView control in order to achieve this. I will be posting on my blog some examples on extending controls based on ContentView control (EventsView is one of them) and will try to provide an example for this feature as well.
Sincerely yours,
Ivan

when you say under known issues that for libraries, categories are not enabled, does that mean they are not supported or just simply not enabled? if the latter, how do I go about enabling them?
thanks!

Hi,
Is there any plan if a fix will be released for NewsView and when? We have 2 new projects to move on production but we don't upgrade them to 3.2 SP2 due to this bug while we need the other bug fixes included on it.
Best regards
Vangelis

Josh,
When we first started building the module, we implemented categories for it. However, we decided to remove them as there were already three kinds of organization - libraries, tags and categories - and two of them seemed to overlap as functionality.
Vagelis,
We will be releasing the hotfix shortly and it will include the fix for this problem. We decided to use a summary field based on a Meta tag, so the new version of the control will be a bit changed, based on our clients' feedback. Hope you will enjoy it too.
Sincerely yours,

When I installed v3.2 SP2 the site seemed fine and I was able to browse to my newly created site and make changes in the admin section but when I opened it using Visual Studio and tried to compile it I got errors. These are as follows,
~\Sitefinity\ControlTemplates\News\ContentViewItemList.ascx - This file is missing the LocalResources file so I had to create it and add the resource for each label on the page. Also had to rename one of the Literal controls as they had conflicting IDs.
~\Sitefinity\ControlTemplates\Blogs\CommentsList.ascx and ~\Sitefinity\ControlTemplates\Generic_Content\CommentsList.ascx both needed to register the following
<%@ Register Assembly="Telerik.Cms.Engine" Namespace="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls" TagPrefix="sfWeb" %>

Hi rmoynihan,
The problem is related to templates. This will be fixed in the upcoming hotfix.
To troubleshoot this, please follow the instructions below:
1. Template path:
~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Blogs/CommentsList.ascx
Actions:
a. Add the following line at the top of the template
<%@ Register Assembly="Telerik.Cms.Engine" Namespace="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls" TagPrefix="sfWeb" %>
2. Template path:
~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/CommentsList.ascx
Actions:
a. Add the following line at the top of the template
<%@ Register Assembly="Telerik.Cms.Engine" Namespace="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls" TagPrefix="sfWeb" %>
3. Copy this file:
~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Blogs/App_LocalResources/ContentViewItemList.ascx.resx
to this folder :
~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/News/App_LocalResources/
4. Open this file:
~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/News/ContentViewItemList.ascx
and remove (delete) following markup on lines 29, 30 and 31 :
<p>
<asp:Literal ID="content" runat="server"></asp:Literal>
</p>
Best wishes,
Rebecca

Thanks for the completely false advice Ivan.
The system does allow filtering events by tags. Just not MULTIPLE tags.
Fortunately the system allows filtering by categories.... but you cannot add more than one category to an event. Unfortunately the admin screen that lets you pick multiple tags doesn't actually work.

Hello Adrian,
I am sorry if I have mislead you with my statement. You are right, EventsView control can be filtered by a single tag (e.g. through TagList control). I was referring to the filtering by multiple tags (through the selector in the designer).
I am sorry I have not made that clearer and apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you.
Sincerely yours,
Ivan

Wow. Did you miss that whole part of 'developing into a normal human being' where we learned the value of communicating politely with one another? People make mistakes ...

Events: Why don't they order by start date? Will this be fixed? If so, when?

Hello Adrian,
Have you tried changing the sort expression of the events view control? You can use Event_Start DESC as a sort expressions and your event items will be sorted by start date. Note that you can use only one sort expression.
All the best,

Thanks Georgi. Incredibly the event start date is duplicated across tables. We finally worked out the string to use.
Guys you need some doco for this. It is flakey.
