Hi there,

Hosting in New Zealand are not the most cost effective. SiteFinity is the perfect CMS for us, for not only our large clients - but also our smaller ones. It's fast and easy to develop on.

With the above in mind, a minimum ~90mb site install is causing us major issues with hosting costs for our smaller clients.

Is there any way to relieve some of the size pressures of SiteFinity? I notice the BIN folder alone is 88mb.

Failing the above, are there any other hosting options SiteFinity provide?

Hi Craig,

Thanks for contacting us.

Although there is no way to shrink the bin folder, you could shrink the database. Since Sitefinity stores previous versions of a page in the database for versioning purposes, you could shrink the size of the database by deleting these pages. For more detailed instructions, take a look at this database shrinking article.

For hosting options, Discount ASP.NET also has a database shrink tool and we do recommend them as a host. For deploying instructions on Discount ASP.NET, take a look at this deployment article.

I hope that my suggestions help you host Sitefinity. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us.

Thanks,
Joe
