Sitefinity 5.0 Release
The Sitefinity 5.0 release, planned for February 2012, will introduce a brand new Forums module, as well as ecommerce enhancements, and developer productivity tools.
1. Sitefinity Features
- Forums module - the new Forums module will allow you to organize forums and threads, and manage membership and moderators. It will also support advanced posts search. The Forums module will be available for all Sitefinity editions (the Small Business Edition is limited to three forums).
- Sitefinity Thunder – A new plug-in for Visual Studio which will allow developers to create and maintain themes, widgets, dynamic modules, and much more through the familiar Visual Studio environment. Sitefinity Thunder will also connect to any of your websites and modify them on the go. It will be available for all Sitefinity editions.
- Windows Authentication Support – website administrators will be able to select Windows Authentication as an option for authentication for the CMS administration. Windows Authentication will be supported for all Sitefinity editions.
- Single Sign-On – by logging once in the Sitefinity administrative back-end, a CMS user will automatically get access to all projects running on Sitefinity in the respective network without having to log in separately. Single sign-on will be supported for all Sitefinity editions.
- Module Builder – ability to export data to Microsoft Excel; added option to delete custom modules.
2. Ecommerce Features
- Support for downloadable/ digital products – will allow merchants to sell downloadable goods and digital products. This feature will be available for the following Sitefinity editions: Sitefinity Standard with Ecommerce Add-on, Sitefinity Professional, and Sitefinity Enterprise.
