eCommerce in Sitefinity – Upcoming Webinar

by User Not Found

Ecommerce functionally is #2 on the list of Most Requested Sitefinity 4.0 Features.

E-commerce suggestion on Sitefinity UserVoice

I’m working behind the scenes to reply to this suggestion.  Telerik’s long-term eCommerce plans aren’t 100% solidified and it’s taking me a bit of time to compose the official response.

However, it’s very unlikely that Sitefinity will have eCommerce functionality with the 4.0 release.  eCommerce is a HUGE area (just as big a content management) with tons and tons of details (payment providers, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping rates, tax calculators, coupons, etc, etc, etc).  Sidetracking Sitefinity 4.0’s development to address this single area would negatively impact our release schedule.

Thankfully there is a Sitefinity partner (Mallsoft) that is addressing eCommerce today with their InstaOrder eCommerce Solution.  This eCommerce solution has been designed to integrate seamlessly into Sitefinity.

See for yourself

Next week Mallsoft (in conjunction with Telerik) will demonstrate InstaOrder during a live webinar.  Here are the webinar details:

When:  Tuesday, June 29, 2010 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM PDT

Sitefinity eCommerce partner Mallsoft has over ten years of experience developing eCommerce applications, including the only eCommerce solution deeply integrated with Sitefinity: InstaOrder. This webinar will provide a brief overview of InstaOrder eCommerce, showing how InstaOrder is integrated into Sitefinity, offering web content management and eCommerce in a single application.

If you’re interested in eCommerce functionality inside Sitefinity it’s worth attending this webinar to see what options are available.

Ok, so now it's the top UserVoice suggestion.

No information on how much it is.. It must expensive

NopCommerce highlights well for free the technical requirements for a full DSS compliant ecommerce solution and expect to see more than just a google button. An example of integrating the new version 4 authentication with NopCommerce would be great.
  4. AbleCommerce Jun 24, 2010
Another option is AbleCommerce, which has been integrated with SF 3.7 Standard and SF 3.7 Community, and the integration files are for sale:

I really don't like AbleCommerce and it is not fully integrated with Sitefinity. I have had nothing but problems in using their software. I would not call this a solution for Sitefinity even though it does work.  Have not tried Mall Soft commerce software but will attend the webinar.   Update:  I just called Mall Soft office and they showed me a demo and this software ROCKS. Tons of features specially image caching with LimeLight and Liquid Pixels.   They said the lastest version is not ready until July 15th but I can wait. Pricing is:  Full source code for $2995 or hybrid for $1495 or compiled version for $895.  Also their software uses OpenAccess which Sitefinity 4.0 is built on.  Telerik should just by them out and get on with it.
