  • Challenge
    Croell Redi-Mix wanted to update its website to better reflect its brand, increase user friendliness, optimize for mobile devices, and drive visitors into the sales funnel. Croell understood the importance of having a website that could be used on desktops, tablets, and phones alike, taking into account the importance of mobility to its audience. 

    Croell has more than 130 locations throughout the Midwest United States, each with different service categories. The new site needed an easy-to-use feature to highlight the locations and make finding the appropriate one easy for customers. 

    In addition to finding the nearest location, Croell wanted customers to be able to do the following: 

    • -  View recent projects completed by Croell Redi-Mix 
    • -  Calculate concrete needs for do-it-yourselfers 
    • -  View the current weather conditions at their location 
    • -  Learn about the various concrete-related products Croell offers 
    • -  Contact Croell with questions and for estimates 
    • -  View and apply for jobs 

    In addition to being user friendly for visitors, the site also needed to be maintainable by the Croell team, which had no previous website management experience. Even though the website would be mobile friendly, Croell didn’t want to create redundancies by having to update content in multiple locations. 

    Sitefinity partner, Far Reach determined, based on Croell’s need for a mobile website and ability to update in one location, that a responsive website was the best strategy. The responsive website allows it to be optimally viewed on desktops, tablets, and phones without the need to develop and update several different sites. 

    Far Reach chose Telerik Sitefinity as the CMS of choice because it provided the out-of-the-box CMS functionality it needed, along with the ability to do custom ASP.NET development.

    Far Reach developed a custom interactive locations map that visually displays Croell’s 130+ locations. Users can find a location by clicking on the map, based on their current location, by searching for a city or zip code, or by the specific service they need. On phones, the map is removed, but users can still use the other three methods of finding the best location for their needs. 

    The success of concrete projects can depend on the weather. Far Reach implemented the Simple Weather JavaScript plugin on the Croell website. The plugin uses the visitor’s current location, once they enable it, and displays the local temperature and weather conditions. 

    For the do-it-yourself concrete creator, Far Reach developed a custom concrete calculator widget for the Croell website. The calculator allows visitors to choose the type of blocks and the dimension, and automatically calculates the appropriate amount of concrete needed for that project. 

    Croell Redi-Mix’s new website more accurately represents Croell’s brand and better serves its customers. It is visually appealing, and the content is organized so visitors can find what they’re looking for within one or two clicks. 

    With the new Sitefinity responsive website, Croell Redi-Mix is able to better communicate with customers and drive sales. Croell can easily update content on its site and add locations as it expands. 

    Since the new site launched, average monthly traffic increased 33 percent. This can be attributed to external factors as well as Sitefinity’s built-in SEO—organic traffic drove 75 percent of traffic, compared to 50 percent of traffic previously. 

    The responsive website has proven beneficial. 26 percent of Croell’s web traffic is on mobile phones and tablets and visitors had more than 400 different screen resolutions.
