    Hi,

    I'm on Nicolas' team.
Before you fix this bug, we'd like to know if this error is harmless, or if it could be the cause of the stability problems we're having.

    Thanks.

    Hello guys,

Can you send us the exact steps of how this is reproduced? Do you always get these errors on uploading images through the editor or it just happens occasionally?

    Best wishes,

    Hi Svetoslav,

The error seems to happen occasionally, because I can't reproduce it right now. It's possible we're missing something that triggers the error.

    Step by step:
    - In the backend, go to Content / News
    - Click the "Create a news item" button
    - Fill in Title, upload image through WYSIWYG
    - Click "Publish"

I'll keep trying to get the error and report back.

    Thanks.

More info: we can replicate the problem with IE8, but not with Firefox. With IE8, it happens all the time.

    Hello guys,

Does this reproduce on a clean project, because I tried it and it didn't. Also, what storage are you using for the images - is it file storage or database storage?

    Hi Svetoslav,

Oops, forgot to reply to this.
It is database storage. Unfortunately, I cannot easily try on a clean project (that'd require a new database, and I don't have one available, and can't create one myself).

    Hi,

I am unable to reproduce this error, but as far as I see it shouldn't bother you. Actually there are some other errors like this that get logged in the error logs but doesn't actually affect the correct work of Sitefinity in any way.

    Hi Svetoslav,

    Okay, thanks for the info.
We also noticed errors related to resources. This seems to be on the back office side.
For some reason, the port is added at the end of some URLs, and so it fails to fetch the resource due to this. This is only on our production environment, which has a special configuration (the web site is not on port 80, and there is a special CSS configuration).

Error example (with some info edited out):

    Hello,

What exactly is the special configuration that you specified? If you don't get this error on your development server then this means that it is caused by the settings on your production. Is this causing any problems on the frontend (missing styles or images)?

    Hi Svetoslav,

I do not really know the details of the special configuration. Another team handles that, and we can't even connect on the concerned servers. We do not have the needed rights. I just know the CSS configuration overrides the http/s ports, or something.

This doesn't cause issues on the front, only in the backend. We also fixed a few link issues (like, for example, the "View" links on the page index of the back office) by specifying the site root URL, in the site settings (System / Site URL Settings). There are still a few broken features, though, such as the Preview button when you're on a page. (ie: only the View link from the page index works, but not the Preview button when you're on a particular page.) Again, this is only on our production servers.

    Thanks.

    Hello Thomas,

You will have to check up with the configurations team, as the problem is on their side. It's possible that there are wrong IIS configurations for the handlers and this may cause some of the resources not to be loaded.

    Hi,
it seems the problem still persists in version 5.0.2800.0 (see log-snippet below). Even if this seems not affect functionality its always a bad feeling having those errors in a solution.

    Kind regards
    Udo

    Hello,

I also tried to reproduce the problem, but wasn't able to. As I see from your previous communication with my colleague Svetoslav, it seems that the problem comes from your configurations. Did you check your IIS settings, as recommended?
