Anyone have problems configuring the editor for media types? I'm trying to place a Windows Media file (WMV) in a Generic Content block and cannot get the Media Manager to show the file as an option. it shows the allowed extensions as avi and mpeg.

How can I change this? I've tried adding WMV to the media filters in the RadEditor control, but that hasn't changed anything.

    Hello Julia Essex,

All you need to do to allow other extensions for the Media Manager is open the ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorConfigFile.xml file and set the MediaFilters property like this:
    <property name="MediaFilters">
Refresh the page and upload the .WMV file.

When i'm opening the media manager or flash manager in generic content I get a box where I can create new folder and upload new files - but nothing happens when I press these buttons.

    What am I missing?

    I've tried in IE8 + Firefox - Please help.

    Regards, Dennis

    Hello Dennis,

Thank you for using our services.

The default View, Update, and Delete paths of the Media manager and flash manager are ~/Files folder. Since this folder does not exist when you create a website those buttons do not work. You can create a Files folder in the root of the website. This will allow the media and flash manager to create new folders in the Files folder.

    All the best,

I am using Sitefinity 3.7. I have the same problem that Dennis (I can not upload videos or flash files to the media manager), but when I try to create the Files folder in the path I receive the folowing message:
Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\lavadodinero\New folder' is denied.

How can i change this configuration?

    Hello Juan ,

The ASP.NET Worker process does not have needed permissions to create new folders in the file system. Please give ASP.NET or NETWORKSERVICE account . The identity your app runs under  needs to have the required permissions on this folder on the target machine. To grant ASP.NET or NETWORKSERVICE write access to a file/folder, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET or NETWORKSERVICE account, and check the boxes for the desired access.

    Best wishes,
    Ivan Dimitrov
