Ive added in extra urls from each page of our old site to the corresponding urls on our new site, however they dont work. is this because the old pages are .asp pages and not .aspx? how can this be remedied?

    Hi mark,

For Sitefinity version 3.5 you need to add additionalExtensions in the application web.config.

    <cms defaultProvider="Sitefinity" pageExtension=".aspx" additionalExtensions=".asp, .html" disabled="false" pageEditorUIMode="Overlay"

By doing so, we add additional extensions for .asp and .html pages. Also, you need to have these extensions in the IIS mappings.
