Moving v3.5 Blank Project from Local Machine to Host via FTP Cancel

   I've setup a new site using the Standard Blank Project files for v3.5. Installed on my workstation and ran through the setup, created a new masterpage, ect... When I publish via FTP to the website, which was completely empty, and try to launch the home.aspx or default.aspx page I get forwarded to the Project Startup page sitefinity/cmsstartup.aspx
   
   What did I miss?
   
   The only difference between my workstation and the sever is I'm running SQL Server 2005 Express locally and SQL Server 2008 Express on the server. However I don't see how this would cause the wizard to restart.

   Thanks fro your inquiry.
   
   The blank project does not have a database set-up, so as soon as you access it you are asked to create a database and set up a user name. From there, the assemblies make the database, create the tables and stored procedures. If you do get this screen again after setting this up on your local machine, just fill in the info that you filled in before for the database connection. It will check for an admin, find one, then send you to the login screen.

   I should have been more clear in my original post.
   
   I've actually gone through the initial set wizard on my local machine then created several pages inside the sitefinity admin.
   
   Once all of that was done and it worked fine I uploaded the entire project to my web server. Which then prompted me again to do the setup wizard.
   
   BTW I just did as you suggested and let the wizard run a second time. It did not find the admin or anything else, basically acted like it was the 1st time I had ever ran the setup wizard.
   
   The only thing that is different from my workstation to the server is locally I'm still running SQL Server 2005 Express and on the server it's SQL 2008 Express. But it still shouldn't be trying to run the setup wizard again.
   
   If you want I can setup a ticket and send you the entire site zipped.

   Thank you for getting back to us.
   
   Usually, the Project Manager runs if the application has not be configured in IIS as a website and the connection string to the database is not set. Running the Project Manager should not cause any problems and affect the application. Take a look at our UserManaul, section Migrating Projects to the Production Web Server.

   I'm not using the project manager, never installed the .exe package which installs the project manager.
   
   This is the "Project Startup" wizard which is launched when you run a blank project for the first time sitefinity/cmsstartup.aspx.
   
   I downloaded the Sitefinity_3_5_1714_standard_BlankProject.zip unzipped into a folder on my local machine. Opened the folder with Visual Studio 2008 PRO and had it Run the website. I completed the initial setup wizard and added some pages via the /sitefinity admin. I then stopped the Visual Studio run and closed Visual Studio.
   
   I then opened Beyond Compare 3 and setup a local to FTP session and copied the entire folder contents to the web server.
   
   Once it was uploaded I started the website from the production server /default.aspx and was forwarded to the /sitefinity/cmsstartup.aspx page instead of just being shown the default home page that I had ALREADY setup. The App_Data has proper ASPNET & NETWORK SERVICE permissions and I even created a seperate AppPool for it to run in IIS6. I setup the required mappings for .template, .rss, and two new ones according to your Manual.

   This isn't the first time i've used or deployed a Sitefinity site. It is the first time I've deployed one and been prompted to set it up a 2nd time. I'm trying to figure out why and how I can fix it.

   There are two possible ways to get redirected to the CmsStartup wizard.(yourproject/sitefinity/cmsstartup.aspx)
   
   1) disabled property in the following section of the web.config is set to true as the example below demonstrates.
   
   

   <cms defaultProvider="Sitefinity" pageExtension=".aspx" additionalExtensions=".asp, .html" disabled="false"

   pageEditorUIMode="Overlay">

   
   2) After you have logged into the CMS administrative area you have called the wizard through the browser url bar.
