    Hi rajeswari gaekwad,

The connection string to your database is stored in the <connectionstrings> configuration section in the website's web.config file. The .mdf file is used in case you decide to go with SQL Express. Otherwise Sitefinity can connect to MS Sql Server, MySQL and Oracle dbs. If you open the web.config and in the <cms> configuration section you set the enabled property to false and try navigating the project you will be presented with the database selection menu.

    All the best,
    Radoslav Georgiev
