Hello, sometimes in December 2008 we were told that sometimes in January 2009 Telerik is going to release the Sitefinity installation documentation for the Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 environment. Where we can download the manuals from?

    thank you

    Hello Inna,

We will release a new version of Sitefinity 3.6 and officially will include that we support Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008. We will prepare some basic steps of the installation, because there are no difference between installation under Server 2008 and Windows Vista.

    Kind regards,

    Thank you, Ivan.

This sounds really good. Could you give me the aproximate date when this is going to happen? We are very excited about the new CMS we are going to adopt for our needs, but, because it's so new to us and we have 2008 environment, we need very clear 2008 environment instruction installation.

Also, if we install your new (beta) version of software, do we have to uninstall it when the full version will come up?

    Thanks.

    Inna

    Hi Inna,

Thank you  getting back to me.

We will try to release 3.6 in a next 2-3 days. If you have beta version installed you can uninstall it and install the official release. You will also able to apply a patch that will upgrade the project to Sitefinity 3.6 standard edition. I am not sure whether we will provide step by step installation guide for Windows 2008, because the installation is the same as under Windows vista, although we will try to prepare some examples and screenshots.

On Windows 2008 Server do we still need to set-up the IIS6 compatibility or with the new 3.5 version of SF can we simply run the App Pool as Classic?

    Hello Brook,

The 3.6 version of Sitefinity supports both IIS 7 and the Integrated Mode.

    Nikolai,

Do I still need to map the .rss .sflb .template and .tmb extensions to the dot net framework?

When I installed on my Windows 2008/IIS 7 server (using SQL2008), the only thing I modified was to use the Classic mode with my application pool, otherwise I did nothing else and the site seems to be running fine....  Can you advise on any special steps I should have done or should check for this set-up and if I should switch the app pool back to integrated?

    Thanks!

    Brook

    Hello Brook,

From Sitefinity 3.5 you do not have to map additional extensions for .template, ..sflb etc. Generally we support Classic and Integrated mode as well.

Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

    Sincerely yours,
