I have read several articles on how to import data from a legacy database into Sitefinity using the provided API and it is all very straightforward however I have run into a road block:  I have a considerable amount of data that needs to be processed into Sitefinity from several legacy databases.  This process is ill suited for an ASP.NET process since it is going to be very long running so my question is: is there a way to work with the SiteFinity API in a Console Application directly?  The only soultion I have seen is to create a WebService on the SiteFinity side to expose a method that will actually preform the insert into SiteFinity and just have the Console Application reference that.

    Hi Doug,

Sitefinity API is not supposed to work for Console Application and there are some problems with this. As you have noticed we suggest using WebServices. Also, I have not heard that someone has successfully managed to use the power of Sitefinity API in console application. We are also not able to guarantee that everything will work in such environment.  If someone of the community could share his/her experience with Sitefinity and console applications this will be great.

    Best wishes,
