    Hi.

I am getting slightly confused here...

I see that Sitefinity ships with the telerik.web.ui assembly (as its probably heavily used by the framework), but I can't seem to find any unambiguos information on whether I'm free to use the RadControls on my site without buying the package. The Sitefinity ASP.NET CMS Overview doesn't really make me any wiser either, so what's the deal?

I've added the controls to my toolbox by browsing to the assembly, but Visual Studio fails to create designers for any RadControls i try to use, so I'm either doing something wrong or I have to cash out to be able to use them. Which is it? :)

    Hello Rolf,

You can use the controls from Telerik.Web.UI that comes with Sitefinity and you do not have to purchase additional license. You can take a look at the following url http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/installaddingtovs2008.html to check whether you followed the same steps. Just to let you know you should locate Sitefinity's bin folder and select the assemble from there.

    Hi Ivan,

That's great news, though I still can't get it to work...

Your link pretty much outlines the steps I've already performed. I added a new tab to my toolbox, right clicked on it and selected Choose Items. Then I browsed to Telerik.Web.UI.dll under my site's bin folder and checked all the Telerik controls. They all appear on the toolbox, so no problem there. However, when I add one of them to one of my user controls, I get the following error in design view:

    Failed to create designer: 'Telerik.Web.UI.RadTextBox, Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2009.1.410.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4

Just to clarify... Since I haven't purchased the RadControls and Sitefinity doesn't (as far as I can see) come with the Telerik.Web.Design.dll assembly, I don't know how I'm supposed to copy it to my bin folder.

    Hi Rolf,

Telerik.Web.Design.dll is shipped with Sitefinity packages. Please check your bin. If you cannot find the dll in your bin I suggest that you should download Sitefinity blank project and get the assemble from there.

    Kind regards,
