       Some progress - I can now add new short text / long text metadata fields to the admin side of the site, persist and retrieve that data.
        Now I want to do the same with boolean data: I want to put a checkbox on the news item page, and persist and retrieve its checked value.
       Can it be done?  How?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Mark Schulze,

    You need to create a new metakey of type Boolean. Then declare CheckBox control with the same ID as your metakey.

    <add key="Events.BoolValue" valueType="Boolean" visible="True" searchable="True" sortable="True" defaultValue=""/>

    Best wishes,
