    I need to create a module for managing products and reviews for products.  The reviews need to go through approval.  I was thinking about duplicating and modifying the blog module.  Is that reasonable or should i be extending it somehow instead of cloning it.  I want a new Module to appear in the cp called Products.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

    Or even if I could just rename pieces of Blogs & Comments module...change some fields as they are displayed..but keep the backend unchanged.  This would be enough.  For example,  "Author" of Comment now needs to be a "Rating".  And can I do this with some kind of localization?

    Hello Jeremy,

    There is a sample implementation of ProductsModule for Sitefinity. Take a look at http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/products-module-simple-implementation.html and
    Ivan's Blog

    As for the implementation of copy of blogs Module, I am not sure if this is a good idea. However you can create the same new module overriding the existing one. I think that the better idea is that you should create your own module and then override some of the properties of BlogsModule

    namespace MyNamespace
      public class MyModule
        {
          // logic here for your module
        }
      public class OverrideBlogs : BlogsModule
        {
          // logic here overriding some properties from the module here
        }

    Best wishes,
