I just installed Sitefinity_3_6_1920_standard (Trial) and created a test site. I'm running vista professional and have made sure to run everything (install and ie) as administrator. .Net 3.5 and Visual Studio 2005 installed. I get the following error when I try to Browse or Edit the test site I created.

Compiler executable file csc.exe cannot be found.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: Compiler executable file csc.exe cannot be found.

Any help would be appreciated so that we can get this running and determine if we want to purchase the product.

    -Susan

    Hi Susan,

this error is not caused by Sitefinity, but rather with problems related to .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.5 versions. You can find more information on this problem here:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxsetup/thread/5ac3a570-23e7-4c67-9fc6-d09b9f026d7e/

Basically, Sitefinity you are running requires .NET 3.5 and for some reason your machine is set up to use .NET 2.0. I have seen that you have .NET 3.5 version installed, so perhaps you should try to make sure you are running against it and if that fails try to reinstall .NET 3.5.

I hope you'll find this information helpful. If your problems persist, please contact us again and we'll see what we can do about it.

    All the best,
    Ivan
