    Good Morning -

    I have a couple of quick questions:

    1. What is the timeframe looking like for the "Products" module – full- fledged version?

    2. Is it possible to configure multiple categories in the Products Module and still have them be searchable?

    For example:

        Category1 = Manufacturer
        Category2 = Industry
        Category3 = Subject

    Thanks in advance Ben

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for contacting us.

    For question 1, I believe you're asking how long it would take to put together that example. Depending on the depth of your technical knowledge along with how well you follow instructions, my opinion is 20 - 30 minutes. I am not sure if I understand your second question. Meta fields have a searchable property, so just mark it to true to make the fields searchable as shown below:

     <add key="Products.Price" valueType="ShortText"  visible="True" searchable="True" sortable="True" defaultValue="" />

    The module does support categories and tags, so on the public side you can click on a category and it will filter the values. For more info on this feature, please read Tags and Categories from our User Manual.

    I hope that I have clearly answered and understood your questions. Feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.

    Best wishes,
    Joe

    Sorry for the confusion I was asking what your time frame for completing the example called "Products" module – full- fledged version in the development manual. In the second part I was wondering if we can have more than one groups of categories. For example:

    Manufacturer
    Sony
    Toshiba
    Lenovo

    Industry
    Construction
    Education
    Technology

    Subject
    Marketing
    Sales
    Accounting

    I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance for your support.

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Now that I dig into the 3.5 version I am noticing that the "Products" demo generic content based module in the Development Manual doesn't work with 3.5 because of the RadControls version difference. When will a working demo with 3.5 be ready. I realize you guys are working on new features, but I would like to use the existing version in the meantime.

    Hi bnye,

    Attached is a modified version of ControlPanelEdit.ascx template, which was causing the problems with the Products module. Please paste it in \[YourProject]\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Products. After this you should be able to build the module. We do not have an estimate for the complete module yet. Nested categories are still not supported.

    Just an FYI. The Telerik.Samples.Products.csproj needed to be changed in order to build in my project to:

     <Import Project="$(MSBuildBinPath)\Microsoft.CSharp.targets" />

    Hope that helps.

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Hello bnye,

    I just follow up to tell you that we have posted some updates (which will enter in the Dev.Manual soon) to this module in our Blogs. The examples show you how to use Tags and Permissions in this module.

    All the best,
