    I have 2 urgent questions.

    1. Our developer created a footer within the master template but we now need to remove it and recreate it via a editable area within the template. How do we do this. I cannot seem to find where i can download the master template being used. Even if i have it, what happens if i reupload it, will the pages automaically associate with the new master template.

    2. We ahve create 5 fairly large sections of website within sitefinity using different templates and the same master page. We now need to change 1 section to use a different master template, but all the pages have already been created.
How do i access the master template and should i be able to edit it, how do i associate only the one section to use the new master

You will find all of your page Templates (Master Page files) stored in the [YorWebsiteRoot]/App_Master directory. You can either pull a copy of the target Master Page from there into your project to Edit or actually Edit the Master Page right there in the App_Master directory.

Either way, you need to make and save changes to the Master Page file that  contains the footer content that you wish to remove. Once this is done, ALL pages in your site that use that Template (Master Page) will reflect this change.

When you said that you have "5 fairly large sections of website within sitefinity using different templates and the same master page", did you actually mean that they are using different Themes? Because a Master Page and a Template are one in the same.

If you want to change the Template (Master Page)  that a page uses, you can do so in Edit mode via the Template drop-down list (on the top Right). You will also notice that there is a Theme drop-down list there as well, for change the theme that a particular page uses.

    I  hope this helps,

    Steven

    Hi Daniel

Steven is exactly right.  There isn't a way for you to download your master templates through the web-based Sitefinity admin.

However, you can access the template files in the ~/App_Code folder where your Sitefinity web site is stored.

There you can replace your footer with a PlaceHolder.  You can then populate this PlaceHolder within Sitefinity.

Hopefully this helps!  Steven, thank you very much for your reply!

Gabe, you said App_Code. I knew you would make a mistake some day. :)

    Hello everyone,

on behalf of Gabe, it should have been App_Master folder. Joel, thanks for pointing this out.
