I am using sitefinity 3.1, which orders the blog posts in creation date order when using RSS feeds. I read that this is changing in v3.5 (or maybe 3.6) but i can't upgrade at present.

Is it possible to change the Creation Date of blog posts in the DB? I've had a look at the DB and cant seem to find the data. I suspect it's in the  more complicated "versioned" tables.

    Thanks,

    m

    Hi Mark,

I am not sure if this is a good approach, but you can give it a try. Please backup your database first, in case something goes wrong.

The database table that you should tweak is:
    • sf_CmsContentBase
And the column name is DateCreated.

    Thanks, i appreciate the risk.

It is a last resort. Are there any simpler options you can think of?

I was thinking i could create my own RSS feed, do you have an canned examples on doing this?

    Hello Mark,

Well, there are two other things you could try:

    1. Create a custom RSS provider. You could use the following example - http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-bgcagk.aspx

    2. Use our API to pull out the contents of the blogs module, and to represent them as an RSS structure. Please take a look at our Developers Manual -> Find Blog Items with GetContent() method.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
