    Hi telerik,

I have a question related to the blogs module. I noticed that on your Sitefinity Blog - http://blogs.sitefinity.com/  there are Categories and Archives sections. I‘ve tried to achieve the same behavior with my Sitefinity installation but without success. I also haven’t found anything for this issue in you documentation. Would you tell me how I can place archives and categories in my blogs?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ines

    Hi Ines,

I am sorry if we had mislead you with blogs.sitefinity.com and archives and categories controls. One of the main reasons this blog has been moved from Wordpress to Sitefinity is so that we can test our work, eat our own dog food, so to say.

Unfortunately, those controls are not yet part of Sitefinity and will be introduced in version 3.1 due in mid September. The controls you see on blogs.sitefinity.com are more of a prototype of what we will be releasing in 3.1.

However, the good news is that I will provide you with user controls for download and few tutorials how to set up this next week when we release Service Pack 2. It will be a temporarily solution, but this is exactly how it is done on blogs.sitefinity.com at the moment.

I sincerely hope that it will not present too big of a problem for you to wait until Wednesday for this functionality, but it is impossible to use these controls with the current release of Sitefinity.

    Best regards,
    Ivan

    Hi Ivan,

What's going on with the SP2? We have very tough schedule so I need to know the date of the release. Also, I need to know what would happen with my projects in case I upgrade from Sitefinity 3.0 SP 2 to Sitefinity 3.1.

    Thanks,

    Ines

    Hello Ines,

SP2 is already out. You can download it form your Client.Net account.
You will be able to upgrade your 3.0 projects to 3.1 just as you do with service packs.

I wish you successful launch of your site.

    Kind regards,
    Bob

Hey Ivan. We grabbed the Archive UserControls and they work great. Do you think you will post the Categories UserControls soon?

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

I'll post the categories tomorrow. I'm really sorry, because I wanted to post both controls right after SP2 was released, but there were some complications with categories, so...

Anyhow, sometime tomorrow you'll be able to download the controls for categories.

    Thanks,
    Ivan

    Hi Ivan,

    Have the controls been posted?

If so, where can I download them?

    Hi Josef,

yes the controls have been posted on our blog : http://blogs.sitefinity.com

Tags/Categories you can find here :
    http://blogs.sitefinity.com/Ivan/Post/07-07-16/tags_aka_categories_for_sitefinity_blogs.aspx

and Archive control is here :
    http://blogs.sitefinity.com/Ivan/Post/07-07-13/archive_control_for_sitefinity_blogs.aspx

Bear in mind that tags/categories are temporarily solution. We will release a much more powerful and robust version in Sitefinity 3.1 which will come built in with all modules based on GenericContent (news, blogs).

    Thanks,
    Ivan
