    Hi Telerik Admin,

I appreciate your forums community.  It is very helpful.
But I am very new to CMS system like sitefinity and I hope someone can point me in a right direction.

We have our e-commerce product. We are looking for a CMS which can deliver content for the site so that our Marketing team can edit content as separate and it shows up on the site.

Our e-commerce product uses Asp.net 2.0.  My question is how do we integrate the content in the sitefinity CMS into our site.

for example...in the product main page we display some general information not so specific about the product and help link.  We also display information specific to the product which is in our database.  Our goal is the general information should come from CMS so then can edit what ever that want to and the changes shows up in the e-commerce site.  Sometimes we also need to fill in the content (article)(general information) dynamically with the product information in our database.

How do we start in this process?....

    1. How to integrate the content from CMS to our application
    2. How to update the content dynamically with our product information?(say we have new products in our database and marketing is talking about the new products.  We have to fill in the content dynamically with links to the new products in our site).

    Appreciate in advance.

    Thank you

    Hello carol harry,

The first think you should decide, is to what you are going to manage with Sitefinity, and what should stay in the e-commerce product.

    1. How to integrate the content from CMS to our application

The easiest way for doing this is by creating a content web service which should serve the content to your 3rd party application. The content service itself should work with our API to extract the data out of the CMS.

If your e-commerce solution supports multiple content providers, then you can create a custom provider for it, which takes the content from our database and pass it to your application.

In both scenarios you will manage the dynamic content through Sitefinity. You should decide which module fits best in your needs, and how to relate the e-commerce data with the Sitefinity content items.

    2. How to update the content dynamically with our product information?(say we have new products in our database and marketing is talking about the new products.  We have to fill in the content dynamically with links to the new products in our site).

This is more or less the same as in the first case, but this time Sitefinity should read the changes in your database and imports them. The easiest way will be RSS like - the content items from your database are exposed through in XML format. Then you create an XML parser control and using the API store the item in the appropriate Sitefinity module.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Georgi
