    I've been reading misc threads and documents regarding setting up my Sitefinity Site on a Medium Trust environment.  What will work and not work when in Medium Trust?  Here is what I've been able to find:

    - HealthMonitoring
    - Workflow
    - RadUpload - uploading of files, uploading of zip
    - RadProgressArea

    I did change my web config to set Medium Trust and the site did come up, but it also failed when I tried to upload an image and this is important for our site.

    Questions:
    1 - Is the above list complete?  Management wants a full list.
    2 - What can I do to fix the Uploading of images?

    Thanks,

    Randy

    Hello Randy Bauer,

    RadUpload works for the default Medium Trust configuration. You can gather more information about the RadUpload limitations from here. It will be great if you could tell us what was the result when you tried to upload an item to Images and Documents module because just "failed" is very common.

    One more thing that can be added to the list is that SMTP settings for Newsletters moudule cannot be set in medium trust enviroment.

    All the best,

    Hi Randy,

      The uploading of zip files problem in a medium trust is on Mosso only problem.  I have another site with a different hosting company that does have that problem.  Who is are you hosting with?

    I get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage as part of the Insert an Image.

    I'm trying to insert an image into a blog post.  When I removed the Medium Trust line from within the Web.config file it uploaded fine.  If I put the line back to Medium Trust, it failed again.

    Hey David,

    This is local at this point.  I haven't even tried to move this up to our hosting site which is CrystalTech.  Upload works fine until I set the site to meduium trust.

    Thanks,

    I am getting ready to host my next site on http://www.softsyshosting.com/ .  I have hosted with them for about year now with blog, it appears to be working great.    They are listed as Sitefintiy hosting partner, and rates appear to be great.

    I will attempt your medium trust setting on my local server to see if I get the same error.

    Hey David,

    Thanks for your help.  Management isn't ready to switch hosting providers yet.  They want me to investigate how to make the site work on the current environment.  If we can't get this to work, we may not use Sitefinity.

    Although we have a licensed version of Sitefinity, we are currently using the community version to evalute this futher.  Also, the uploading of images in via the radEditor and a custom control that I created.  We wanted to users to be able to create a Blog Post, but not have to log into the CMS to do that.

    Thanks again for your help.  I'm new to Sitefinity and just trying to learn my way around.

    I found another forum post and it suggested removing the following code from the web config file.  I did this and it works locally.  Now I need to move it up to our internal web development server for testing and then our hosting site.

    RadUploadModule:
            <httpModules>
                <add name="ScriptModule" type="System.Web.Handlers.ScriptModule, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>
                <add name="Cms" type="Telerik.Cms.Web.CmsHttpModule, Telerik.Cms"/>
                <!-- Http Module for extension mappings in Library module.-->
                <!--<add name="LibraryModule" type="Telerik.Libraries.LibraryHttpModule, Telerik.Libraries"/>-->
                <!--<add name="RadUploadModule" type="Telerik.Web.UI.RadUploadHttpModule, Telerik.Web.UI"/>-->
            </httpModules>

    Thanks,

    Randy

    I duplicated your error here on my dev server.  I added the mosso config file to root of my site, and the problem went away.  I don't think all the hosting companies go for the full blown medium trust level, they use a modified version where they turn important items back on like reflection.  I could be wrong.

    I would set up a small demo of sitefinity on the live hosting enviroment to see what happens, if you have a sandbox on the live server.

    You should see if you can get a copy of there web.config medium trust  settings.  Mosso provides one for Mosso users at http://cloudsites.rackspacecloud.com/index.php/Overview_of_modified_Medium_Trust.  The page has some good info, and at the bottom you can download there medium trust config file.

    I am getting ready to write some front end code to allow guess bloggers for my site also.

    Hello,

    David, thank you very much for your post.

    To all reading the thread, please make sure that you have requirePermission set to false for the sections in the <sectionGroup name="telerik>, defined in the web.config file. Example:
    <sectionGroup name="telerik">
         <section name="dataAccess" type="Telerik.DataAccess.Configuration.SectionHandler, Telerik.DataAccess" requirePermission="false" />
         <section name="framework" type="Telerik.Framework.Configuration.SectionHandler, Telerik.Framework" requirePermission="false" />

    Greetings,
    Georgi
