Does Sitefinity have any option to move viewstate into the session so we can cut down on page sizes and increase performance on the client end?

I've tried a few various solutions on moving viewstate into the session.  They seem to work up to when a RadWindow opens like when editing a generic content module.  I have not fully tested every module yet.

I am coming from DotNetNuke and this feature was always included and seemed to work very well.   It would be nice if the Telerik team could add this feature in and get it working.

    Hello Brian,

for various reasons, here at Sitefinity team, we are not big fans of sessions. That being said, in Sitefinity 3.6 we have included an option to turn off the ViewState for a page. All you need to do it go to Sitefinity > Pages, select a page, select Properties tab, expand More Options and you will find the checkbox there which states "Disable ViewState".

I hope you will find this information useful. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    All the best,
    Ivan

    Hi,

That solution does work for a few pages but does not totally work for me.

I really need something to move viewstate into the session.  I am working on an intranet application that has over 50 text box fields on one particular page and view state needs to be turned on.

This application is used by only 25 users at one time and so does not need to be load balanced etc.  I need to increase performance in every way possible for the browser / page download.  I havnt even been able to calculate the size of the viewstate being created, but its something I know is dramatically causing loading delays.

    Hi Brian,

I am afraid that this is not possible with the current versions of Sitefinity.
Still, there are things you could try with the ViewState in order to increase the performance - you could try to move it at the bottom of the page.

We will have a discussion about this issue though.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi
