Is it possible for generic content items to be within multiple categories?  I'm new to Sitefinity, and I need to create a products module based on generic content.  I would like to create a Products View control that could display content items by category, and I know that this is already built into controls like News View. If I were able to add a "Featured" category to a particular item, in addition to any other category already applied to it, then it would be very easy to manage items that I wanted to feature at given times. By doing it this way, all my featured items could be grouped easily through categories and I wouldn't have to manage multiple instances of a single content item.

I realize that there are likely others ways to approach this issue, but that just seemed like an easy way to do things. If a Sitefinity veteran could lend me a hand I would appreciate it.

    Hello Daniel,

Out of the box you the content item could be assigned only to one category. You can add a custom metakey (User Manual - Adding Custom Fields, page 214) that will act in the same was as the default category. This will allow you to have a single item assigned to two or more categories.

Alternative option is using Tags. Out of the box you can assign one content item to multiple tags.

    Best wishes,
