For our arabic website, the Title can be too long so I changed the News.Title to be LongText in web.config and using a script I created with the help of this link I read-deleted-resaved all item & the News title is saved in LongText instead of Short Text.

The problem though is that in Sitefinity saves in LongText but it doesn't except more characters and I get this exception. Value for property Url is too long. Maximun length is 256

If I remove any extra text, the item is saved properly to the LongText field.

I want more characters to be saved and thats why I changed it to LongText in the first place.

I'll appreciate the help, if the question is not too clear then let me know.

    Hello Zubair,

Thank you for using our services.

The problem you are facing is because we use the Title for Urls by default. What you can do is to leave the original title as it was - ShortText, and then expose another metafield which will be Long Title for example. Then you have to change the control templates for the news view control so that they display the long title instead of the short one, and use the short one only for Urls.
