    Hi,

I am implementing a pluggable module and I was wondering how would I go about implementing permissions for different objects within that module.

For example I have 2 objects Employers and Employees, how would I go about being able to assign different roles the various permissions to these separately.  I can't find much documentation on this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  I realise this isn't a trivial question to answer but even if you just provide a working sample I will be able to figure this out myself.

    Thanks
    Sean

    Hi Sean,

You can receive additional information about different roles and various permissions from “Users and Roles” and “Permissions” chapters in User Manual.
I hope this will be helpful for you. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions.

    Greetings,

    Hi Pepi,

Thanks but you completely missed the point of my email.  I am not talking about how to set Permissions, that isn't rocket science.  I am talking about how do I create a set of classes to handle being able to give an Administrator the ability to assign permissions for 2 separate class objects within a Custom created module, i.e. one I am trying to build and would like some help on this.

The user manual is very basic and only talks about setting permissions?  Should I have posted this under the developing with Sitefinity forum instead?

    Thanks
    Sean

    Hi Sean,

I am really sorry for the misunderstanding. Have a look at the attachment; it contains an implementation of a simple custom module.
First, you should have a permissions template and a custom control using this template (ContactsPermissions.ascx and ControlPanel.cs). Another important thing for implementing security in the module is the code in the Security folder of Sample.Contacts project - GlobalPermission.cs and GlobalPermissions.cs classes.

Hope this information helps. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance.

    Sincerely yours,
    Pepi
