I have spent the best part of a day, trying to work out the reason why sometimes an event i had created didn't show on a webpage (using the EventsView control), only to have now found that if a category that the event is in contains either a "(" or a ")", then it will refuse to show it. The event shows if the set category of the EventsView is left blank (EventsView Control\Edit\Advanced\Obsolete Members\Selected Categories), and will only cause a problem if the EventsView control is told to just display items of a certain category containing the characters.

I am now going to change all my category names to work around this, however, it would be good if this could be fixed!

    Hello Louis Farrell,

Thank you for using our services.

This is a known issue of Categories functionality. Category names cannot contain special characters in their names, as they are not properly escaped. This issue will be fixed in our next major release - Sitefinity 4.0
