I am getting some users reporting issues in opening documents in Sitefinity 3.5 sites that have the .sflb.ashx extension on them. Primarily this seems to be localized to Macs but I am having some issue duplicating the issue. Has anybody run into this problem or fixed it without going to 3.6 and using real document extensions?

    Hi Jeff Mah,

I have encounter the same problem a few months ago. Unfortunately the problem was occurring randomly and I could not find what was the exact reason, but I managed to create a KB article which describes how to user real file extensions. Please check it out How to filter the default ContentHttpHandler by extension
There is similar, but easiest option that you can use in 3.6 versions ow to use the real extensions for the items in the Images and Documents module

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,

Your suggestion works great. However, I have a new wrinkle for this. What if my clients are uploading PDF files to a folder that exists in the file system and those PDF files are not managed via Sitefinity? We have this situation and we got a 404 for these files. Is there a correct way to add an exception so that said folder does not get affected by this change?

    Hello Jeff Mah,

Have you added handler mapping form .pdf extension through IIS?
