Ok, this may be a toughie - we have a public folder on our exchange server that holds tasks for our help desk.  They use tasks like a ticketing system, so they assign them to themselves, and then check them off when they are complete.  Does anyone have any links, or suggestions on how to query this public folder, or if we even can?  Thanks in advance, and let me know if this does not make sense.  THanks!

    Hello Josh,

This makes perfect sense. A very interesting integration scenario.
I didn't understand if the files are physical ones or you have an exchange server. In both cases, I believe the Outlook API will help.

I am interested in this, hopefully someone could share if he already did that.

    All the best,

Georgi - thanks for the reply.

After doing some more investigation, I have a few options.  With Exchange 2007 MS, introduced some Exchange Web Services.  You can develop an app that uses these services to get info from Exchange (emails, tasks, appt, etc).  Since we dont have Exchange 2007 yet, my other option is to use a WebDAV approach.  As always, someone has already done the heavy lifting for you, if you dont mind paying :)  There is a component made by Independentsoft (http://www.independentsoft.com/webdav/index.html) that will allow you to query Exchange for the same data (tasks, emails, etc.)  It even allows you to create these items outside of Outlook.  You just have to make sure your Exchange has webDAV active.  By default its usually turned off.

That is all the info I have right now on this.  The main reason for this need was seeing some of the functionality SharePoint has in it.  You can access your email through the site, access contacts, and tasks.  We wanted to add this functionality into Sitefinity.

    Hope this info helps!

    Hello Josh,

Yes, this helps. I was having a similar idea with querying the exchange server. I will know that there is a solution for that already :)

    Thank you!

    Best wishes,
