I created a new search index to just search my blog posts. I have two separate templates/themes on this site. One is for the blog/about us page and the other is for the rest of the pages. If I search on the about us or blog page, I get my results just fine. However, if I search on another page I get the following error:

    Invalid index specified: "Community"!

It seems as though if the search results control is on a page with a particular template, only those pages with that template can be used to search from. Check out these screenshots:

    Hi andersleet,

We cannot reproduce this problem locally with the latest Sitefinity version (1936). Please, make sure that you set search index in "Select an index" drop down menu for SearchBox control in all master pages or pages where you use SearchBox control. This error appears when you do not set search index in the search box control.

I have exactly the same problem. Using Sitefinity 3.7 SP3, after setting up and running with Summer-Green and after adding some news and other content, I get "Invalid index specified "Summer" (see screenshot). Another test site (default setup with MS Sql Express) has exactly the same.

I'd like to help resolve this issue. You say you cannot reproduce this behavior. Perhaps it is specific to certain default skins?

    Hi Abel Braaksma,

Go to the backend, Administration >> Search and delete all indexes. Then open App_Data/Search and delete all sub folders. Go back the the backend Administration >> Search and create a new index. Afterwords go to the page where you have dropped SearchBox and SearchResults and re configure the controls to use the newly created index.

App_Data/Search was empty, there were no defined keys. I created a search index (I wasn't aware this was needed, I was under the impression that after running the setup, a fully working website was created). After creation, I still received the error.

Next, I decided to rename the search index  "Summer" (the name in the error). Odd, but now it works.

Thanks for the quick reply and pointing me in the right direction.
