    Hi,

Is it possible to add an option to set the link target when editing a hyperlink in the Rad editor (other than manually editing the HTML code)?

    Cheers,
    Christian

    Hi Chris,

Actually, we deliberately removed the target="blank" attribute as it is not XHTML compliant. So, we should discuss what is the best approach to implement this functionality.
In the meantime, please refer to the following KB article which explains how to put it back: How to extend the custom RadEditor dialogs

    I hope this helps.

Well, the target="_blank" attribute being not XHTML compliant is only half the truth.

This only affects XHTML 1.0 strict and XHTML 1.1, whereas it is perfectly legal in XHTML 1.0 transitional and probably will be in XHTML 2. It might even find its way back into XHTML 1.1, see this article for more information (and a solution to put it back into the DTD):

    http://learningtheworld.eu/2007/xhtml-with-target/

If you really want to use XHTML 1.0 strict or XHTML 1.1 for a current project and you don't want to mess with the DTD, there are a couple of elegant JavaScript solutions out there, the most simple being <a href="..." onclick="target='_blank';">
    See http://www.thefutureoftheweb.com/blog/target-blank-xhtml11 for more information.

Thanks for the Article about how to put it back into the current dialog, I'll give that a try.

btw: What's up with the link editor in this forum? It only gives me web.config errors since a couple of days, and I have to copy the link to Word and back to make it clickable. (Firefox 3.0.5)

    Cheers, Chris
