So, I'm implementing the Search Results user control and trying to validate the markup. It appears that there are a few problems with the XHTML. If you'd like an example, I've found a great one: go to the site and search for "telerik". The w3 validation service identifies 162 errors.

I'm not exactly sure what it is, so I'm hoping one of the telerik folks knows what's up.

To make matters more annoying, I'm unable to get into the "Snippet" that is generated in the search results and use something other than the <B> tag to identify matches. Judging from a cursory glance at the error summary, these  have something to do with the problem.

I've also experienced trouble with the repeaters not rendering the footers correctly in these user controls that enable paging. Sometimes, if you disable paging, the footer template won't render at all (see the NewsList.ascx) which won't close the <OL> or <UL> tag and cascade errors down the page.

    Hello Milkman Dan,

the <B> tag in SearchResult snippets has already been replaced with <strong>. This fix will be released in the upcoming Service Pack 2.

As for the paging, we've had no such complaints yet, but we are going to take a look at it and make sure it outputs correct markup (even if paging is disabled).

Thank you for pointing this issue out.
