Sorry,  I just started with SiteFinity today and have been tasked with created a blog page that contains the same controls that Telerik's blog does.

I've created my blog page, i have my categories, author list and archive list however they are all blank except categories which I just got working.

    Any help would be great.

    Hello Ryan Ternier,

    You can check the following

BlogList control could not show your authors in the author name is not set for your Blog. You can check this under Blogs module >> YOUR BLOG >> Blog settings.

BlogsArchive - make sure that the provider property under Data category of the controls is set to "Blogs"

    Best wishes,

I have the authors showing properly. However, the URL for them is just blog.aspx (or whatever I chose to name it) and it doesn't filter by that author (I noticed this too in the blog video it didn't filter by author name). How can I get this functionality.

For the Archive, I have it working the way I want, but it renders as a tree view - not an List like say Authors or Categories. Is it possible to get it looking that way too?

    Hello Ryan Ternier,

If you have created blogs that has the same BlogPage ( check this out under Blog settings) you may experience this behavior.

You can switch the mode of BlogsArchive control using ArchiveMode property under Behavior category.

    Sincerely yours,

I am having the same problem with the Bloggers list just pointing to blog.aspx. How do you work around this to get them to pull up the individual posts per blogger? I am using the blog control where the display is set to Blog & Posts and display full item is set to "auto-generate a page...".

    Thanks!

    Hello Chip Gallent,

Have you set "" from the control designer of BlogPosts control? This will show only the posts from a particular blog with a specific author. You have to create a Blog - say Peter. Then create page called Peter'sBlog. On this page drop BlogPosts control and use "" to show Peter's posts.

    All the best,

    Thanks for all the help!

I guess what I was looking for can't happen.

We have 1 page called "Tips and Tricks".

We have 5 blog names "Product 1, Product 2... etc"

On that page I have a list of all blogs, archive, categories (which seems broken because it displays the wrong # and brings back the wrong #) and bloggers.

    What I'm looking for is:

-When someone goes to that page, they can see the lateste tips and tricks (all posts).
-If a user wants to click on a category , they will get results for that category. Currently the category will be "Product 1 (5)". You click on it, you get 1 result.
-If a user wants to view from just one author, they click on that Author and it filters the page to that result.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks.

    Hello Ryan Ternier,

-When someone goes to that page, they can see the lateste tips and tricks (all posts).

The default BlogPosts control behaves just as you want - it shows the latest post at the top of the page. They are sorted by Publication Date.

-If a user wants to click on a category , they will get results for that category. Currently the category will be "Product 1 (5)". You click on it, you get 1 result.

You have to use CategoriesTree control configured to use BlogPost control

    CategoriesTree
    • ProviderName - Blogs
    • CategoryKey - BlogsCatID
    • CategoryKeyType - ID
    • CategoryContentUrl - URL TO YOUR PAGE WHERE BLOG POST IS DROPPED.

-If a user wants to view from just one author, they click on that Author and it filters the page to that result.

You should have a separate page and blog for each author. Each single page should has blog posts filtered by author - you can do this from BlogPosts control designer - Step 1 "Which blogs to display?"

    Best wishes,
    Ivan Dimitrov
