    Hi,

In search result module i am getting unrelevant description, or, in other words, striped all text and not only content part or, maybe, page meta description. Also, i am getting error text from asp validators as "wrong email" etc..

Is there any way to make at least that in search result  description is page description, not some striped page text (including header links text, footer text, asp validator wanrnings etc etc..)?

    Tnx

    Hi Kresimir,

    Thanks for contacting us.

Which version of Sitefinity are you using? We did fix several issues with the search in version 3.5 as this article will show you. Can you try upgrading to this release, then letting us know if the issue is resolved? If this issue is still occurring, can you send us a screen shot? What are you typing in the search box?

    Best wishes,
    Joe

    Hello Kresimir,

Thank you for providing the screenshots, they were helpful indeed.
You can control which sections of the page to index, or to exclude from the index by adjusting the FieldsInfoProvider.xml file. Basically it is a configuration file. You can find more about it, as well as how to configure the search indexing clients from the forum thread Search Indexes too much.

I hope you find this helpful.

    All the best,

    Hi Georgi,

problem is not in search result. As I saw, search seems to work just fine. Problem is that description of each search result item on search result listing page do not have relevant description.

As you can see on my screenshot, in description you can find text from menu, errors from non triggered asp validators etc.

Problem is that when you are indexing pages for search you are requesting whole page and parts of that page you are saving as description. Google, for example, works at the same way, only they have better algoritam to create description. For example, by my opinion, if it there is meta tag description on page, that must be description of that page.

If there is no meta tag description, then you can use some of your algoritam to "generate" page description.

    So, now question..
Is there way to show page meta tag description as description of search result item?

    Br,
    Kresimir

    Hi Kresimir,

Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. Actually we really like this idea and will consider such implementation in some of our future releases. We suggest you to modify the things that are being indexed through the fieldsInfoProvider.xml file and exclude the validators containers.
