Where can I find more details on the sub-site feature?

Specifically I'm trying to setup a website to allow the forum level users to have their own profile page (think simple myspace) and blog for each. From what I read you can not do this unless you setup sub-sites.

    Given the following setup:
    Main Site\
     Main Site\brian
     Main Site\brian\blog
     Main Site\\lisa
     Main Site\\lisa\blog

Do sub-sites have their own user database or do they all share the same one as the main site?

    Hello Briankb,

you do not need to set up subsites for this functionality. You can do this simply by implementing simple personalization system. You can do so by taking advantage of the ASP.NET membership, role and profile providers which are used in Sitefinity. You can find more about these topics from here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/yh26yfzy.aspx

Basically, you would have to create a few controls which would be aware of the currently logged in user and depending on its user name controls would display appropriate data.

The personalization is too big of a topic and beyond the scope of our support, but we'll be more than willing to help you with any specific problems in which you may run into. Feel free to contact us again.

I'd be interested in finding more information about creating subsites, so we can see if it would be possible to set up subsites for our affiliates instead of completely separate sites.

    Hi Elizabeth Munsey,

We use the providers architecture everywhere in Sitefinity, so you can take advantage of this when you plan your subsites architecture. Please take a look at the User Manual -> Adding Providers section, or run a search query in our forums with keyword "Subsites". You will have some ideas from these points.
