I'm working on a marketing project where I need to use Thesauri, Controlled Vocabularies, Synonym Rings and similar Web Information Architecture methodologies to use "server side" metadata to bind pages to custom terms.

It's also referred to a recommendation engine to suggest terms when you perform a search for a similar item or if you misspelled something.

                    Did you mean? Widgets

    Another example would be:

Use the search engine to search the term productX, which is a competitor's product, on our side, but show results of our productA.

Using the productA term in client side meta data tags creates legal issue. Using a recommendation engine on the back-end wouldn't.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of common web practice with respect to Sitefinity's search engine?

    Thanks

    Hi Jon,

Sitefinity uses Lucene.NET. By default we do not expose API to look up for synonyms, but you may find the posts below useful
