    Hi

I am looking into extending users' so I can store profiles details against the user like Company, Location, Address etc..

One way is that I could add columns to telerik_Users, but I fear that in the future if we upgrade to a new version of SF, this columns might be lost.

Another way is  - should I create my own membership provider ?

Any recommended ways of doing this ? Many thanks.

    Hello Imran,

Please have a look at the information provided in the Adding User Details topic of the User Manual, p.121.

Note that if you are using the build-in Profile provider for Membership services, you do not need to make any changes in the database.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for that. I tried it out and it works well.

My only further question would be that, when viewing All users, currently the grid shows username, Email, Creation Date.

What I am wanting to do is, list all users and show all of the properties like firstname, surname, nickname and anything that I have created.

How would I go about this ? Should I just create my own "User List" module that gets info from telerik_UserMetaInfo?

( A sidenote question, when upgrading to future versions of SF the files edited when adding user profiles properties, they wont get over-written ? )

    Thanks

Sorry, an additional note, as well as listing, it would be nice to be able to Edit Profile like on the All users list.

    Hi Imran,

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to display the newly added user details in the All Users grid for the time being.
When upgrading to future versions, your changes to the files will be lost as the whole Sitefinity folder is replaced. However, there are ways to compare the files and save your changes. We will definitely think about a workaround for both issues for future releases.

As for the Edit Profile link from the All users grid, if you have changed the <EditTemplate> section of the ManageUsers control declaration as described in step 2 of the instructions in the User Manual, everything should be OK and you should be able to edit all user details.

    Greetings,
    Rebecca
