    Hi

I have a slightly different use case from the one that most CMSs are based on. I don't want to base my site on a CMS platform, I want to use the CMS to manage content and then have my other systems pull in content via some method (web service, direct API, etc.) for display within their own interfaces.

Would I be able to do this with Sitefinity? I've looked through documentation but I haven't been able to find anything which mentions this sort of approach. Are there web services available for retrieving content externally? I only really want the management part of the system, not display!

If nothing exists so far, would it be possible to write some? Do the APIs support enough methods to return, say, a rendered page? Coding is not a problem, if it needs writing I can write it, but before I start jumping in to prototypes, can anyone offer an opinion on whether it's possible at all?

    Thanks!

    Hi Andrew Cherry,

You need to use web services for communication between websites. There are several web services that you can use. All of them are used for ClientSideBinding of content items in Sitefinity

     - ~/Sitefinity/Admin/Services/BlogsService.asmx
          Methods
    • GetItems
    • GetSelectedItems
    • GetItemsCount
    - ~/Sitefinity/Admin/Services/ContentService.asmx
           Methods
    • GetContentItems
    • MoveContent
    • DeleteContent
    • GroupDeleteContent
    • GetItems
    • GetSelectedItems
    • GetItemsCount

You can expose your custom web services using Sitefinity's API

    Best wishes,
