    Hi all,

    I'm converting blog post category to allow multi-selection of categories. I'm going to store the selected categories for a particular blog post as a semi-colon delimited string.

    What is the maximum length for ShortText as in:
    <add key="Blogs.Category" valueType="ShortText" visible="True" searchable="True" sortable="True" defaultValue=""/>

    I saw 250 characters in some other post in this forum, but I have been able to save more than that.

    BTW, what is the max for LongText?

    I would like to avoid having to create a new property as my Web site already has a lot of existing blog posts. So hopefully ShortText will do.

    Is it even OK to change the type of a property if there are existing contents. If I change Blogs.Category from ShortText to LongText, what happens to existing content?

    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael Chan Fong,

    What is the max length for ShortText? - 250 chars. LongText supports about 500 chars. For the backend the TextBox which you use to set the category name has a property MaxLength set to 250, so if you try to add a name longer than 250 symbols, the category name will be stripped.

    If I change Blogs.Category from ShortText to LongText, what happens to existing content?

    This should not break anything. It will allow you to use longer category names.

    Best wishes,
    Ivan Dimitrov
