Can standard control templates be safely deleted?

    Given that control templates are now embedded in Sitefinity 3.6...

    can we safely delete standard templates from the following directories:


    I understand that any templates that have been customized will still need to reside somewhere in the tree and be mapped according to the new procedure.

    I think it depends.  There are a few modules (Newsletters & Forums) that still use external templates.  For the other modules, you'll probably be ok removing the *.ascx template files.

    In my case, I completely removed these directories and then copied (recreated) them from the latest version of Sitefinity Blank Project.

    Be sure to make backups though!  :)

    what about the "ContentVersionView.aspx" and its associated App_LocalResources that are present in the various admin controltemplates? are these referenced explicitly? if not, why are they present and can they too be safely deleted?

    Hi SelArom,

    ContentVersionView.aspx page and the associated resource file are necessary for the proper functioning of the Generic Content modules History. This means that it is not safely to delete them.
